Storyline 360 Interaction: Labeled Graphic & Interactive Markers

This interactive slide was designed with the goal of introducing learners to the Google Slides interface while also activating prior knowledge. In this case, my aim was to help learners build connections between Google Slides and Microsoft PowerPoint. These two instructional tools are very similar, with many buttons and menus located in roughly the same locations. I hoped to establish a sense of familiarity for learners by presenting a screenshot of the Google Slides interface labeled with interactive markers comparing certain features to corresponding parts in PowerPoint.

Storyline 360 Interaction: Checklist

Through this checklist interaction, learners select the types of Google Slides resources they’re interested in. Each choice pulls up an example of that type of resource on the right side of the screen. The purpose of this exercise is to show learners the many different options that exist when it comes to Google Slides resources that might be great additions to their lessons. Many learners might not be familiar with the use of Google Slides beyond its standard capabilities as a slideshow/presentation tool.

Storyline 360 Interaction: Bingo Card

Bingo cards were always a fun learning tool in my classroom. They’re very flexible and can be used to teach or review a number of topics across subjects, whether you want to practice matching definitions to vocabulary or even review math problems in a fun way. For this interaction, the goal was to show learners that traditional lesson delivery and digital lesson delivery actually have many parallels, leveraging learners’ prior knowledge. Beginners who are leery of integrating technology into their lessons could benefit from seeing all the ways in which digital lessons are similar to traditional lessons.

Storyline 360 Interaction: Freeform Drag & Drop Quiz

This slide is a quick quiz that checks the learner’s understanding of which devices are compatible with Google Slides. The learner must drag and drop the correct devices into the space at the bottom of the slide. When they click the Submit button, they receive feedback on their choices. Knowing which devices are compatible helps learners decide how best to integrate Google Slides into their existing classroom setup.

Storyline 360 Interaction: eLearning Scenario

Storytelling is an effective way to help learners process what they’ve learned and retain it for later for use. I developed this immersive scenario-based interaction to provide practice choosing Google Slides integration strategies based on specific situations and classroom setups. I used my professional background as a teacher to design a scenario and accompanying problem-solving opportunities that would be relatable to other teachers as they completed the exercise.

eLearning Prototype: Integrating Google Slides

In keeping with my values as an instructional designer and an educator, I designed an eLearning prototype that is centered on the learner, delivers content in an engaging manner, and presents the material through a design that is stimulating but not distracting. Bringing technology into the classroom is essential in this increasingly digital age, but I know from experience that this can be very daunting for educators who might not even know where or how to get started. This prototype of my Integrating Google Slides course introduces a flexible instructional tool as well as strategies for integrating into lessons using a fully digital or hybrid approach.
